**Position Summary**

The Buyer/Planner will target the optimal balance between cost and service while purchasing active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and cGMP used throughout the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the procurement and scheduling of resources to meet requirements to fulfill product orders and ensure timely delivery to customers.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

* Supports the Procurement Life Cycle, including PO process in compliance with the company policies, procedures, and systems

* Follows up and communicates with internal customers on status of orders and provides recommendations for the best value of materials and goods

* Advocates for the company with suppliers on best PO terms, on-time delivery, Incoterms, and pricing

* Enforces open communication expectations with suppliers

* Assists with vendor management for applicable commodities, including but not limited to vendor qualification, pricing negotiation, delivery lead times, payment terms, and supplier quality management

* Supports the supplier evaluation process and makes recommendations for preferred suppliers and secondary/tertiary sources

* Succeeds at hitting department KPIs such as on time delivery, quality, shortage prevention, and PPV

* Works closely with individual departments to understand customer requirements and assists in providing solutions to specialized customer requests

* Prepares reports as requested by supervisors or as required by procedure

* Leads negotiations with preferred suppliers for best value, contract management, and supplier quality issues

* Supports the Supplier Scorecards and communicates requested improvements with Suppliers

* Consolidates requirements and develops the most suitable method of purchase such as purchase order contracts, blankets orders, schedule agreements, repetitive orders and supplier stocking agreements

* Initiates and coordinates meetings between suppliers and respective company departments to resolve procurement-related problems

* Prepares reports as requested by supervisors or as required by procedures

* Analyzes pricing, production, and inventory trends to ensure competent supply sources and economical procurement and conducts market surveys to identify new sources of supply

* Provides guidance and necessary training to Purchasing personnel

* Generates successful detailed planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting of status of production runs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis

* Plans to encompass capability, capacity, resource management, and inventory monitoring and replenishment

* Generates, reviews, and releases production routing documentation and ensures adherence to schedule requirements within manufacturing

* Supports the development of the Master Schedule that considers demand and capacity issues and translates this into the detailed production plan

* Supports the procurement department as needed for various assigned goals and assignments

* Performs other duties as assigned

**Knowledge and Skills**

* Motivated to learn in a constantly changing environment and improve processes to become Best in Class procurement department

* High proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and Outlook

* ERP system experience in Oracle preferred

* Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred

**Experience and Qualifications**

* Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field

* 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Materials Management, and/or supplier relationship with 1+ years in pharmaceutical manufacturing or equivalent industry such as Chemical or Biotechnology

* 1+ years related buying experience with active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and cGMP
