DescriptionThe Electrical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that electrical project reports and designs submitted to clients are technically accurate. Manages electrical projects so that they are completed on time and on budget. Assist in bringing work into the firm.Responsibilities•Designing electrical power, low and medium voltage distribution systems, fire alarm, interior and exterior lighting, and grounding systems for a variety of buildings, both new construction and renovations•Technical design and preparation of construction documents•Understanding of the foundation of engineering standards, systems, and building codes•Coordinating work with utility companies•Assess and select appropriate equipment for the application, based on project specifications, cost, etc.•Prepare detailed system layout drawings, including power, lighting, telecommunications, and/or fire alarm systems•Optimize designs for energy efficiency and sustainability•Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into building designs•Occasional field visits to verify existing conditions or to verify designed installations•The potential to work in various, or a specific, market sector(s) including retail, commercial, multi-family, healthcare, education, and light industrial•Training and mentoring provided to further roles and responsibilities into the future•Design and develop electrical designs for projects•Continuous review and compliance with building codes and regulations•Work with the Project Manager to ensure that projects are done on time and within budgetQualifications•Normally requires a 4-year electrical engineering degree and typically 3-5 years of related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience)•This includes considerable experience in utilizing various computer software packages such as AutoCAD, Coordination Study, and Arc Fault Study Calculations
