Job Description

Responsible for assisting with the installation and operation of the College’s network and telecommunication systems. Works with ethernet network, firewalls, and associated services to provide data and voice communications. Participates in implementing and maintaining the college-wide unified communications systems.

Minimum Base Pay:

$22.13. All salary calculations start at the minimum salary and will be based on candidate's education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities: (This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary) Assists with collecting data and evaluating the performance of data processing systems.

Resolves routine system errors or failures, identifying system problems and implementing corrective actions.

Maintains, controls, and troubleshoots basic network and telecommunications systems and respective software including operating systems, firewalls, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems, and security systems.

Learns, evaluates, and develops new technology skills.

Assists with researching, evaluating, and recommending changes in hardware, software, data communications, and techniques that contribute to more effective automated systems capabilities.

Functions in an on-call capacity for response to hardware, software, and network systems repair needed during normal business hours or instances where the college is closed.

Tests network and telecommunications software and hardware and implements upgrades.

Administers security for telecommunications equipment, network connections, domain controllers, active directory, and antivirus protection including security for both physical access and software.

Refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Applies appropriate security measures for physical access to hardware devices, and access to data and programs. Maintains confidentiality of user passwords and security certificates.

Actively participates in inventory control activities of the department by tracking software and hardware assets.

Provides support and technical services to departments, other campuses, off-site locations, and college-based functions that may require travel.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications

:

Education and Experience: Associate’s degree and one year of related experience; or

High school diploma and three years of experience

Knowledge of: Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications

Basic networking and telecommunication, including firewalls, wireless VPN, and other network devices

Skilled in: Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of changes and updates

Ability to: Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness

Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Regular physical attendance required

Valid Florida driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

:

Knowledge of: Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)system administration and troubleshooting

Domain Name Service (DNS), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and Telecom systems

Unified communications systems administration including E911, queuing, reporting, and contact center components

Work Environment and Physical Demand: Lift, carry, push, pull, install, or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds

Lift, carry, push, pull, install, or remove objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds

Reach and grasp objects

Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Stand for extended periods of time

Use of video display terminal

Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

Identify and distinguish colors and shades of color

Communicate information orally and in writing

Receive and understand information through oral and written communication

Proofread and check documents for accuracy

Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury

Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions

Operate a motor vehicle
