Overall Description:

We are seeking an experienced Learning and Development Specialist to partner with our employees and leaders to achieve our purpose of using Smart Science to Improve Lives.This position is responsible for training, the talent management process including succession planning, the annual performance management process and coaching leaders and employees.We are looking for a dynamic individual who can influence people at all levels across the organization.

Key Job Responsibilities:

The L&D Specialist is responsible for partnering with the business to find the training and development solutions to help us achieve our business strategy.This role works closely with leaders and the broader HR team to achieve results.The L&D Specialist is integral in championing Our Purpose and leading culture change throughout the company.The main functions of this job include training, talent and succession planning, early careers development, championing Our Purpose, amongst other projects as needed.

Lead the annual talent review and succession planning process in conjunction with the local HR Partners and functional leaders. This role will work with leaders to identify critical roles, potential successors and ensure each potential successor has a development plan.

Develop and deliver L&D solutions (1:1 and group delivery; virtual and in person).The L&D specialist will facilitate the majority of internal training programs and is responsible for the subsequent monitoring and reviewing of results after the trainings are complete.

Advise, coach and guide managers on identifying development needs through job analysis, performance appraisals and regular consultation and recommend a course of action.

Build relationship with external training providers to ensure a comprehensive offering of personal skills and management development.

Advise, coach and guide managers in resolving performance issues in conjunction with site HR Partners

Manage the annual performance management cycle including 90 day evaluations for new hires, objective setting, mid-year and year-end appraisals.

Work with the recruitment team on the Graduate Trainee program to ensure we provide development opportunities for our early careers talent.This includes planning job rotations and formal trainings throughout their time in the program.

Partner with the HR team and managers to revamp the onboarding process to ensure a positive new hire experience.

The L&D Specialist is required to communicate regularly within the organization at all levels.Communications involve telephone, video calls, email, written work, in-person meetings and presenting to groups of various sizes.

Responsible for advising on and monitoring costs of the annual L&D budget requirements which is part of the overall HR budget.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Ability to design and deliver L&D solutions requiring a thorough understanding of the training cycle and learning styles

Experience conducting talent reviews including succession planning

Influence managers to take a recommended course of action

Strong communication skills including the ability to inspire and motivate other

Project management / personal organization.The ability to manage multiple projects

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree preferred
