Highway Department Manager

Director Highway Department The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in planning, design, engineering, and operations management within the highway sector. This role requires a New Jersey Professional Engineers license and a proven track record in project management, client engagement, and team leadership. Responsibilities Serve as the main point of contact for transportation agencies. Develop strategic plans for winning and executing highway projects. Lead business development and pursuit of new work. Coordinate with leadership and participate in marketing and proposal development. Manage one or more key projects depending on size, complexity, and availability. Collaborate with other departments on multi-discipline projects including bridge, traffic, environmental, etc. Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control of design materials prior to submission. Review design and contract documents for conformance and completeness. Provide oversight to project managers to support, review, and audit processes ensuring project success. Manage the highway design group to meet client and project needs. Supervise staff assignments and plan resource allocation to meet deadlines, deliverables, budgets, and schedules. Oversee and mentor staff to help them meet their professional goals. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 12 years of experience in planning, design, or engineering/operations management. Project Management experience on highway projects of varying sizes. New Jersey Professional Engineers license. Experience with NJDOT, NJ Turnpike, NJ Counties, and/or MPOs. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Experience in business development and client engagement. Proven track record of managing a team with direct reports. Experience with multi-discipline projects including bridge, traffic, and environmental. Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience. Proficiency in reviewing design and contract documents. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Cherry Hill, NJ. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $175,000.00 - $200,000.00/yr.
