The CNPRC Information Technology Services Unit provides programming, mobile device, security, storage, server, desktop, network and other technical support to more than 300+ users on and off site. The team also manages applications and databases, which contain research data supporting a variety of multidisciplinary research, operations (both research and business) and historical animal data on the 4,000+ non-human primates housed at the center.

The California National Primate Research Center, CNPRC at UC Davis, is an Organized Research Unit that conducts interdisciplinary research programs on significant human health problems where non-human primates is the animal of choice. In addition to its major efforts in the area of research, the CNPRC is also committed to both UC Davis and NIH missions of teaching and service.

**Job Summary**

Under the direction of the IT Supervisor, document, track, and manage IT related incidents from initial contact to resolution. Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT support via telephone, email, and in-person at client work areas. Provide support for desktop and laptop computer hardware and peripherals, Windows and Mac operating systems, application software, and in-house applications. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues using all available tools. Manage Windows and Mac client workstations. Plan, purchase, build, initialize and update workstations as new releases, upgrades, patches and hot-fixes become available and approved. Follow documented procedures. Configure workstations to match department or unit specific configurations and to comply with campus security policies. Backup, restore and transfer user data and preferences when applicable. Work with Systems Administrators on research, planning, development, testing of server-side hardware and software technologies, including network security, storage, and resource management. Assist the IT unit with special projects. Work on short-term and long-term assignments within the IT unit. Document assignments and support incidents in the UC Davis ServiceNow issue tracking system.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

-Use computer equipment, read computer screens for extended periods of time.

-Work with clients via telephone for extended periods of time. Handle service calls between remote areas of the CNPRC campus and the IT unit.

-Occasional travel between CNPRC and the main UCD campus as necessary for meetings and training.

-Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

-Work under challenging conditions (high humidity/temperature, unpleasant odors, animal excreta and noise).

-Work in areas wear protective clothing is necessary for extended periods of time including: gown, coveralls, gloves, masks, face shields, goggles, sleeves and head covers.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

-This position is subject to Medical Surveillance procedures and review in accordance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations and University Policy. TB test or chest x-ray, blood sample, counseling/orientation interview with Occupational Medicine is required before employment and annually thereafter.

-Perform IT duties in BioSafety Level (BSL) 1, 2, or 3 facility where nonhuman primates may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous infectious agents such as HIV, SIV, or Herpes B virus.

-Work involves exposure to bio-hazards, chemicals and/or physical risks, which require following established safety procedures. Required to wear protective clothing and respirator in circumstances that require personal protection from infectious diseases and animals.

-Employee is personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines/instructions.

-Work indoors and outdoors on uneven ground daily throughout the year, including rain, warmer to hot temperatures, or cold weather that is consistent with Northern California climate.

-Restricted vacation during peak workload periods. Work irregular shifts, including overtime, occasional weekends, holidays, and evenings on short notice.

-UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space.

-California National Primate Research Center employees are directly or indirectly engaged in the performance of work on Federal or State contracts and grants as well as periodically come into contact with controlled substances; and are expected to abide by the UC Policy on Substance Abuse, the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, and the State Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1990.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Required** :

-Advanced technical experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining operating systems (Windows 7, Windows 10, Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave) and business applications (Microsoft Office 2013 & 2016).

-Intermediate technical experience with an Apple Management System (JAMF, Munki).

-Intermediate technical experience managing Users and Computers within a Microsoft Active Directory Domain

-Technical experience with Microsoft's System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

-Experience with Cloud Storage Solutions, including Google Team Drives, BOX and Dropbox.

-Experience in creating and updating technical support documentation.

-Experience with ITIL and working in a process driven environment.

**Preferred**:

-ITIL Certification

-2+ years of Enterprise Desktop Support Experience

-Extensive technical experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining operating systems (Windows, macOS) and business applications (Microsoft Office 365/2019)

-Experience with InfoBlox

-Experience with ServiceNow

-Experience with Digital Signage

-Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2 and S3)

-Experience with PowerShell
