The Opportunity:

Give Kids The World Village is an 89-acre, whimsical nonprofit resort in Central Florida that provides critically ill children and their families from around the world with magical week-long wish vacations at no cost. Amidst snoring trees, enchanting castles and the world's largest game of Candy Land, Give Kids The World creates life-changing moments that lift spirits, renew hope and inspire belief in the impossible

Give Kids The World Village just became even more WONDERful with the addition of Mayor Clayton's WonderLab: a one-of-a-kind, immersive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activity center. A focal point for creativity and exploration, the WonderLab is designed to inspire curiosity; foster collaboration; and spread childlike wonder to visitors of the Village. The venue opened its doors last July.

We believe that each member of our team has the ability to help create the perfect storybook experience for the special families we host at our magical Village. This internship will give you the opportunity to learn from and work with the Manager of Experiential Education at the Village who is managing operations of the Mayor Clayton's WonderLab. This position will learn various experiential teaching techniques, various software used in the venue, and build a creative portfolio of STEAM opportunities outside of the Village for families.

Commitment:

Ideally able to provide 3-4 days of availability per week (24-32 / hours per week)

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with Manager of Experiential Education to develop or aid in varying experiential learning opportunities for the STEAM center. Some of these opportunities may include:
    • Direct facilitation of activities with families in the WonderLab.
    • Brainstorming and ideating ways to ensure immersion of guest experience.
    • Developing and testing new STEAM activity ideas.
    • Managing all data and files in organized methods.
    • Build portfolio of STEAM-centered organizations in guest hometowns .
    • Use of tools such as 3D printers and laser cutter for material creation in the WonderLab.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands Beyond Normal Office Environment:
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands and arms to lift/move objects.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to work in a flexible schedule, which may include nights, weekends and/or holidays
Qualifications

Qualifications and Specific Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of education and/or experiential facilitation.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Must have strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong desire to learn and enthusiastic attitude.
Education / Experience Required:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Working towards a degree (or recently graduated) in Education, Experiential Education, or related fields.
Miscellaneous:
  • There are a variety of experiences the WonderLab can offer based on the student's interests and background to provide practical experience in a manageable learning environment. Leaders will work with this position to determine and achieve their goals within the internship tenure.
  • The WonderLab is open from 1pm to 9pm, 7 days a week, providing the student the ability to gain experience on a flexible schedule that includes nights & weekend availability.
  • The length of the internship will be determined according to business needs.
