The QA Manager plays a crucial role in partnering with operations, ensuring that we deliver high-quality products by establishing and building rigorous quality control processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations. The ideal person will not only possess exceptional expertise in ensuring food safety and quality but also will excel in collaboration and team leadership. They will have a proven track record of leadership that fosters strong relationships and work seamlessly across departments to achieve common goals while setting clear expectations and driving results.

Three Dog Brands is a pioneer in the premium dog treat industry. Since 1989, we have been manufacturing and distributing delicious, all-natural dog treats to dog loving pet parents through popular Food/ Drug/ Mass and Pet Specialty retailers in the United States and Canada and through eCommerce avenues.

Responsibilities:

A Doggone Exciting Career:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Quality Assurance and Innovation, the Quality Assurance Manager will:

  • Ensure food safety and quality of Three Dog Bakery products (self and co-manufactured), by adhering to established standards, specifications, and regulatory policies & procedures. Building quality into the culture of the operation.
  • Foster effective communication between the quality assurance team, production teams, and other relevant departments to address quality-related issues promptly and seamlessly.
  • Lead the QA Technician team, overseeing daily tasks, training, and development of job proficiencies while promoting a collaborative and servant leadership style that is supportive and nurtures the professional growth of the overall team running the plant together.
  • Responsible for the HACCP program, Crisis Response Plan, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the Cleaning and Sanitation program, ensuring compliance and data reporting.
  • Manage BRC certification, including document updates, internal audits, and certification audit preparation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance existing plans and practices of the plant. Creating a culture of quality and excellence that establishes structure and discipline into our quality production standards.
  • Design, train, implement and maintain a 5S/VW system at the facility.
  • Recommend and implement change management QA processes for ingredients, packaging, and formulas. Build an elevated quality focus into the overall operation of the plant. Assuring best practices and efficacy.
  • Partner with supply chain to manage supplier verifications.


Qualifications:

Your Pawesome Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in food science, companion animal nutrition, bioengineering, or related field.
  • Three to five years leadership experience managing a team of direct reports.
  • Experience across a broad range of food technologies, including baking, extrusion, fermentation, and low acid thermal processes.
  • PCQI trained or certified.
  • GFSI background, auditing experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
