Job Description

Title: Environmental Manager

Position Overview: As an Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards within a manufacturing plant. This pivotal role requires a candidate with a 4-year degree in a relevant field, prior experience in manufacturing and wastewater, and the ability to lead and manage a team of 5 individuals. This is a plant-based position with minimal travel requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance:

Stay abreast of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and ensure the plant's activities align with these standards.

Develop and implement strategies to maintain and improve compliance with environmental laws.

Wastewater Management:

Oversee the plant's wastewater treatment processes, ensuring efficient and environmentally responsible practices.

Implement best practices for the proper disposal and treatment of wastewater, minimizing environmental impact.

Team Management:

Lead and manage a team of 5 environmental specialists or technicians.

Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure team members are proficient in their roles and responsibilities.

Environmental Audits and Inspections:

Conduct regular internal environmental audits to identify areas of improvement and ensure compliance.

Coordinate external audits and inspections, acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies.

Environmental Reporting:

Prepare and submit accurate and timely environmental reports to regulatory authorities as required.

Maintain comprehensive records of environmental data and documentation for audit purposes.

Environmental Training:

Develop and deliver environmental training programs for plant personnel to raise awareness and ensure adherence to environmental policies and procedures.

Sustainability Initiatives:

Collaborate with other departments to identify and implement sustainability initiatives that align with corporate goals and environmental responsibility.

Emergency Response Planning:

Develop and maintain emergency response plans related to environmental incidents.

Ensure all team members are trained on emergency procedures and participate in periodic drills.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in environmental aspects within a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices and initiatives.
