Description

The Apprentice Property Engineer applies trade skills to perform preventive maintenance and corrective repair of building systems for the safe, efficient and proper operation of the assigned property. The individual in this role must be capable of completing all tasks as directed by the Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer with supervision, assisting when assigned team projects and accepting responsibility for actions and results.

Focus Areas of Responsibility
  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations and governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Basic understanding in all shift operations and satisfying work orders.
  • Performs duties of preventive maintenance as assigned.
  • Performs tenant-requested tasks such as adjusting HVAC equipment, minor electrical repairs, lock repairs and keying, minor plumbing repairs and other repairs as assigned.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and tools and orders materials necessary to complete all tasks.
  • Arranges for subcontractors, when required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or Property Manager.
  • Updates job knowledge at an appropriate level by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, growing personal networks and possibly participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value.
  • Assists with other duties as necessary and provides general support of the Parkway mission in whatever way(s) possible.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six months of work experience, preferably in property management or a related service industry.
