Cleveland-Cliffs Steel is hiring for a Procurement Specialist, Parts Data Management . The working locations may be West Chester, OH or Burns Harbor, IN. The position will be under the direction of the Purchasing Business Systems & Support Services team. The Procurement Specialist will maintain Cleveland-Cliffs Material Masters ( p art n umbers/records) as part of a centralized parts creation team, with information provided by various plant personnel through an automated parts request system. This process is designed to standardize parts across all facilities within Cleveland-Cliffs . Position will also include data reporting, data mining and request modification . This is a corporate position where individuals will be interacting with personnel from all facilities operated by Cleveland-Cliffs.
This positions responsibility includes understanding and maintaining the part number data base for the purchasing enterprise system. This position will be responsible for reviewing requests for adding and changing part numbers / descriptions to the business system, accurately and completely defining an items attributes in accordance with the classification protocol and researching part numbers to ensure that duplicates are not created.
Summary of Responsibilities :
Deciphering information that has been submitted by part number requesters
Data analysis; interpreting meaning and validity of various parts requests
Determining correct noun and modifier designation of part being requested
Research parts for required attributes using Internet, manufacturer documentation, supplier information or blueprints
Reject part requests for reasons such as incomplete data, not adhering to company standards, or determining it should be a e-Commerce item
Will lead MDM group projects as needed
Will assist in creating and maintaining training documents
Attend weekly staff meetings , may direct some meetings
Minimum Qualifications :
5 to 7 years job experience in warehouse management or specialized commodity experience in a manufacturing environment
Must have general computer skills, with proficiency in Internet search engines, data entry, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Outlook
Must have the ability to learn new software programs
Will be required to maintain a high level of completion standards (spelling, accuracy in work)
Must have excellent communication skills; via telephone and e-mail
Must be able to work well within a team
Should be able to complete tasks within a specified timeframe
Must be a self-starter, and have the ability to motivate oneself as well as others
Preferred Qualifications :
Ability to read and interrupt blueprints and schematics
Better than average Microsoft Office Skills (Power BI fluency)
Analytical skills to support parts database management
Must have excellent communication skills; via telephone and e-mail
Prior parts coding experience
Prior purchasing experience
