Are you ready to be a crucial part of our production team? We're looking for Operators to join us in maintaining our extrusion lines and contributing to our manufacturing process
GENERAL PURPOSE:
To supervise daily shift operations maintaining up to nine (9) extrusion lines and assist in the activities of production personnel engaged in the manufacturing function. Must stay familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- GENERAL:
- Must be conscientious about attendance.
- Essential to accomplish 40 hours of work per week.
- Must understand production processes within the organization.
- TECHNICAL:
- Tear down, clean out, and set up extrusion dies for 2 ½” to 3 ½” Extruders.
- Handle materials (mixing/blending of virgin or reprocessed materials with or without concentrate or powder colorants).
- Perform die cleaning, maintenance, care, and storage.
- Demonstrate basic understanding of the extrusion process from raw material to finished goods.
- Identify and classify materials.
- Wire dies with heater bands.
- Operate and maintain Burn Out Oven.
- Operate and maintain 2 ½” to 3 ½” Extruders.
- Understand downstream equipment operation and maintenance (Pullers, Saws, Cutters, etc.).
- Understand encoders, foot counters/meters, rate meters, drives, pumps, compressors, coilers, and punches.
- QUALITY CONTROL:
- Visualize, read, and interpret blueprint drawings.
- Use dial calipers and measuring instruments.
- SECONDARY OPERATIONS:
- Tear down, set up, start, and maintain extrusion production lines.
- Operate tow motor.
- Operate extruders.
- Inspect parts.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION (ACCOUNTABILITIES):
Responsible for all production documents:
- Extrusion Processing Data
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and taste or smell.
- Frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to lift more than 100 pounds, frequently required to lift up to 100 pounds, and regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The employee is occasionally required to work in wet, humid conditions, high, precarious places, be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and extreme heat.
- Frequently at risk of electric shock and working near moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is loud.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) mandatory for all new hires and three to five (3 ~ 5) years of experience with custom profile extrusion operating.
No special license or certification is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- WRITTEN COMMUNICATION:Must communicate technical and non-technical information in written form using standard English.
- ORAL COMMUNICATION: Must be able to convey detailed information and ideas through oral communication using standard English. Should understand and respond to listener feedback and ask questions in two-way and group conversations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and perform Algebra.
REQUIRED TRAINING:
This position requires site-specific job training to perform the duties satisfactorily and tow motor certification. Supervisory certification may be required.
