Introduction

We are seeking a Director, Reliability Engineering and Product Quality to join our Grinding Bulk and Pyro team.

You will be responsible for ensuring that we are delivering products that meet the highest standards of reliability and quality.

This role will encompass leading a team of engineers and quality assurance professionals, to assure compliance with Metso quality processes, define product quality standards, and spearheading critical initiatives such as HAZOP studies and design reviews for complex upgrade and retrofit projects.

This position will be located in York, United States of America.

You will report to the VP, Project Engineering. The members in our team are located in around Australia and America.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive reliability and quality strategy that aligns with the company's overall programs.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of reliability engineers and quality assurance professionals.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders to define and prioritize reliability and quality focus areas.
  • Review and Approve development and implementation of product standards
  • Guide team in assessing credible deviations and potential risks by applying risk management principles
  • Ensure the use of best practices in reliability engineering, including failure mode effects and criticality analysis (FMECA), reliability block diagrams (RBD), and fault tree analysis (FTA).
  • Lead Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and design reviews for complex projects to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for product quality and reliability issues.
  • Lead initiatives to improve product quality, reduce defects, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with product development, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to integrate reliability and quality considerations into all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with customer support and field service teams to address and resolve quality and reliability issues in the field.
  • Partner with external vendors and suppliers to ensure the quality and reliability of purchased components and materials.
  • Provide expertise and technical support to maintain and improve the reliability of systems for the organisation and external customers including the data gathering, failure analysis, FMECA, RCM, troubleshooting and development of predictive/preventive maintenance programs for equipment.
  • Follow and communicate industry standards and guidelines required to achieve compliance with government laws and policies and industry best practices.
Who you are
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least ten (10) years relevant experience in maintaining metallurgical/mineral processing plants.
  • Ability to develop standards (technical and management).
  • Welding, machining, casting, and international code experience (AWS, CWB, ASME, EN), familiar with NDT required.
  • Extensive experience in auditing & reviewing various engineering languages: process, safety, chemical, instrumentation, operations, and human factors.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills plus co-operation, interpersonal and presentation skills to manage internal and external interfaces.
  • Self-motivated approach, ability to work independently and make decisions.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing Business conditions and needs.
  • A high level of computer skills is essential: Microsoft office- Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization.
Desirable
  • Safety, Risk Assessment and/or Quality certifications a plus
  • Previous exposure to pressure filters and horizontal belt filters is seen as an asset.
  • Auditing and risk assessment experience a plus.
