DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs daily quality assurance activities on radiation producing equipment. Records results and reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate staff.Fabricates patient immobilization and beam altering devices to include Cerrobend blocks and vacuum bags.Performs simulation procedures to satisfy topographic/radiographic identification of treatment area and obtains accurate and appropriate data to complete dosimetric calculation. Assists Simulation Tech as needed in positioning and immobilization.Accurately positions patient and sets all treatment parameters to satisfy the treatment prescription.Assist with dosimetric calculations and data entry when required.Processes and labels imaging studies. QualificationsEducation/Certification: Must hold or obtain current licensure as an RTT with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. Must hold or obtain current BLS.Experience: Comprehension of standard radiation therapy techniques; principles of radiation physics.Equipment/Technology: Must understand linear accelerator operations and electronic record and verify.Language/Communication: Writing/editing English skills necessary to produce appropriate documentation and communications.Personal Presentation: Must be able to professionally interact with customer patients, families and other staff.Mathematical Skills: Must be able to accurately calculate chart doses, hand calculations for therapy and prescription protocols.Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Interpersonal: Must be able to work well in small teams to accomplish departmental goals.Performance: Must be able to take verbal instruction and practically apply it without direct supervision.
