It is now a 24-bed unit that provides high acuity cardiac care for pre and post cardiac surgery patients to include: bypass surgery, cardiac valve repairs/replacements, and other cardiac based procedures and treatments, such as ICD's, and permanent pacemakers. Additionally, this unit provides high acuity care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure and chest pain. As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to blood draws and daily care. The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse.
