Summary:

Tax Accountant will be responsible for supporting the tax and accounting team with the preparation and review of tax returns for the company. This role will analyze complex tax accounting issues and assist with tax planning initiatives. The Tax Accountant will support Corporate Tax & Accounting in ensuring compliance with all tax laws and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare and review tax returns for various entities including federal and state income tax returns, partnership tax returns, and sales tax returns.
  • Analyze and interpret complex tax accounting issues and provide recommendations to the Tax Manager.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tax compliance for all business transactions and evaluate tax implications of proposed transactions.
  • Conduct research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify tax planning opportunities for the company.
  • Assist with tax audits by preparing documents and responses to information requests.
  • Maintain and update tax records and documentation in compliance with record retention policies.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of tax compliance processes.
  • Consult with external consultants and agencies on tax matters.
  • Answer questions from localities and interact with different outside agencies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) rules preferred.
  • Oracle experience +

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in an Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • Minimum five (5) years experience in Public Tax Accounting.
  • Experience with tax research and analysis, and ability to provide recommendations based on findings.
