Overview:

As a Roadway/Highway Specialist Engineer at Flatiron, you will play a key role in the design of complex transportation infrastructure projects, with a focus on roadway and highway elements. You will work collaboratively with specialized multi-disciplinary engineering teams to provide technical insight and resolve design and construction challenges. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing technical reviews, engineering analysis, and presenting analysis and review findings at technical meetings.

What you will be doing:
  • Participate in the design of complex transportation infrastructure projects, focusing on roadway and highway elements.
  • Support technical due-diligence review of design deliverables to implement best practice for design and construction needs, develop innovative and optimized solutions, identify and mitigate key design risks, ensure compliance with contract and industry requirements.
  • Support engineering evaluation and analysis, utilizing advanced analysis techniques and modeling for roadway and highway systems.
  • Support specialized design coordination and liaison with external and internal Parties to provide technical insight and resolve design and construction challenges.
  • Perform technical reviews and engineering analysis in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
  • Participate and present analysis, review findings, and recommendations at technical meetings, as requested.
  • Support efforts to capture and spread design innovation and lessons learned to all Districts.
  • Maintain knowledge of Flatirons company values and strategic plan.
  • Support published corporate policies.
  • Perform additional assignments per managements direction.
What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate (PhD) in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Strong academic background in Roadway/Highway Engineering.
  • 1-5 years of progressive engineering experience, demonstrating a growing knowledge and hands-on experience in design/construction, with developing technical skills in roadway/highway design.
  • Experience with industry design codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with analytical and numerical industry design software is beneficial (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, SYNCHRO, HCS, etc.).
  • Basic proficiency in geometric design (horizontal/vertical alignments, super-elevation, intersections) of roadways and highways, and a developing understanding of related engineering fields (pavement, subgrade, drainage, MOT, walls, foundations, etc.) is an asset.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and management skills are highly valued.

USD $90,000.00/Yr.
