Overview:

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects, including material and labor costs, to support business development and project planning efforts. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about construction and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Review and Analysis:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project requirements, scope of work, and potential challenges.
  • Analyze project drawings and specifications to identify materials, equipment, and labor requirements and assess project complexity and risk factors.
2. Quantity Takeoff and Cost Estimation:
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and measurements from project drawings and specifications to quantify materials, equipment, and labor needed for construction.
  • Research material and equipment costs, subcontractor bids, and labor rates to develop accurate cost estimates for each project component.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to perform cost calculations, generate cost breakdowns, and develop pricing proposals.
3. Bid Preparation and Submission:
  • Prepare bid packages, including cost estimates, proposals, and bid forms, in accordance with project requirements and submission deadlines.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain pricing and quotes for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Submit bids and proposals to clients and participate in bid openings and negotiations as needed.
4. Cost Analysis and Value Engineering:
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities, alternative materials, and construction methods while maintaining project quality and specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop cost-effective solutions and recommendations for project optimization.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all cost estimates, bid proposals, and related correspondence.
  • Prepare reports and summaries of cost estimates, bid results, and project evaluations for management review and decision-making purposes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in construction estimating or related roles.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst, or similar).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality assurance.
