The 15-bed emergency department serves approximately 25,000 patients per year. In addition to providing general medical and surgical services, ECU Health Duplin Hospital offers chemotherapy and other cancer infusion interventions and has earned national designation as a Primary Stroke Center.Position Summary This position is responsible for the preparation, assembly and serving of food products to customers. Food preparation will include, but will not be limited to: meats, vegetables, soups, bakery, desserts, appetizers, for patient, retail and catering areas. Will serve as a specialty cook preparing specialty food according to standardized recipes and specific methods applicable to type of cookery to create high quality products. Will also perform short order/grill cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers, per customer specifications.Minimum Requirements Must be able to read, write and speak English (Bilingual in Spanish is preferred)Knowledge and Skills Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner, Must be able to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude. Basic culinary skills appropriate for the position. Must be able to read, comprehend and follow standardized recipes. Good working knowledge of food preparation. Experience with institutional kitchen equipment and in large volume food preparation. Attitude- Must have a positive and upbeat personality with excellent customer service skills.
