Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Purchasing Agent to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials essential for our packaging solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity for growth and development within the packaging industry, and will be focused primarily on training, learning, and shadowing current leaders within the organization to rapidly develop your industry knowledge and expertise.

This is an onsite position located in Vacaville, CA with standard working hours of M-F from 9:00am - 5:00pm daily.

Responsibilities

1. Vendor Management:

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.

- Identify potential suppliers, conduct research, and evaluate capabilities and pricing.

- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements to ensure cost-effective purchasing.

2. Material Procurement:

- Generate purchase orders based on inventory needs and production requirements.

- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock as necessary to meet demand.

- Coordinate with various departments to determine material specifications and quantities.

3. Quality Assurance:

- Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure purchased materials meet specifications and quality standards.

- Address any quality issues or discrepancies with suppliers promptly and effectively.

4. Data Analysis and Reporting:

- Analyze purchasing trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to make informed decisions.

- Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and vendor performance.

5. Compliance and Documentation:

- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and correspondence with suppliers.

6. Continuous Improvement:

- Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline purchasing processes and optimize efficiency.

- Stay updated on industry trends, market developments, and new technologies relevant to flexible packaging materials.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.

- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management is a plus but not required.

- Strong negotiation and communication skills.

- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with procurement software is advantageous.

- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
