Kansas City, United States Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Full time
At the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, we first listen to the communities we serve, tap into our learnings and relationships, and bring everyone together to build and support programs that improve education, boost entrepreneurship, and help Kansas City thrive.

Program Leader - School Engagement

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation is a private, nonpartisan foundation that provides access to opportunities that help people achieve financial stability, upward mobility, and economic prosperity - regardless of race, gender, or geography. The Foundation uses its grantmaking, research, programs, affiliates, and initiatives to support the start and growth of new businesses, a more prepared workforce, and stronger communities. Our work is grounded in the principles of racial equity, diversity, and inclusion and is consistent with the aspirations of our founder, Ewing Marion Kauffman.

For more information about the Foundation, please visit the website at www.kauffman.org.

The School Engagement Program Leader works collaboratively with the EMKF Real World Learning (RWL) team, local educators, business partners and other stakeholders to further the mission of the Kansas City RWL Collaborative which seeks to prepare students and employers for the future. Through immersive professional experiences, like projects and internships known as Market Value Assets (MVA), students get a head start in achieving their career goals. The School Engagement Program Leader collaborates and communicates with individual high school staff and their intermediaries to organize around creating systemic improvements that lead to student MVA attainment for every high school student, with a particular focus on removing barriers for historically under resourced communities.

Specific Responsibilities include:
  • Create and coordinate deliverables, learning, reporting, communications, timelines, and planning related to the RWL initiative.
  • Provide consulting support to targeted districts, schools, and programs working to implement new approaches to high school completion and career pathways.
  • Maintain existing relevant relationships in the education, business, and broader communities; build new relationships in those communities; and periodically represent the Kauffman Foundation at meetings, events, conferences, and other gatherings.
  • Support the research and learning agenda as identified by the Educator in Residence - RWL.
  • Provide support to and gain feedback from individual members of the RWL collaborative and their school districts in an effort to share best practices creating a community of learners.
  • Help schools deliver MVA opportunities with both fidelity and sustainability by focusing on access and opportunity for all students and by ensuring high quality educator professional learning.
  • Consult with employers to align RWL opportunities with employer goals, refer providers, and seek and provide actionable feedback to ensure responsiveness and quality.
  • Support coordination of learning opportunities related to the RWL initiative, including local/national site visits, speaking engagements, regional convenings, and on-demand content.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor's, graduate degree, or commensurate experience in school district or other systems-level education leadership, or equivalent years of experience.

Work Experience: A professional track record of at least five years of experience in the field of education involving hands-on work in developing and executing strategic and project plans is required. Direct experience working in the Kansas City RWL Collaborative is preferred.

Travel: May require occasional business travel regionally or nationally.
