Dynamic Leadership:
Reporting to the General Manager of RISE and the Director of Residence Life, you will be at the forefront of day-to-day operations, activities, and services for our university residents.
Inclusive Community Building:
Lead and develop a team of undergraduate and/or graduate staff to create inclusive communities that embody the mission and goals of Residence Life.
Student Empowerment:
Advise and mentor students involved in hall government, living-learning communities, and in-hall leadership roles, fostering empowerment and leadership development.
Campus Culture:
Play a crucial role in the daily operations of Residence Life, contributing to the unique and vibrant campus culture at NJIT.
Confidentiality & Compliance:
Maintain confidentiality and ensure adherence to company policies.
24/7 Support:
Provide round-the-clock support to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents (with prior arrangements available).
Your Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Oversight:
Coordinate with staff to manage the University housing furniture and equipment inventory.
Develop and implement an annual replacement schedule for furniture, mattresses, carpets, and more.
Collaborate with Facilities Engineering on long-term renovation and repair schedules.
Serve as a hearing officer for university violations and as an appeal officer for Residence Life cases.
Participate in various divisional and University committees and recruitment events.
Student Care and Support:
Promote a safe and secure living environment, responding to student concerns, crises, and emergencies.
Follow up on residents of concern, emergencies, interpersonal conflicts, and crises.
Serve as the on-call professional staff in the on-call rotation for the Department.
Act as a student conduct officer for minor and mid-level conduct issues under supervision.
Operations Management:
Collaborate with facilities management and custodial services for the upkeep of the residential community.
Oversee desk operations, including key/access management, mail/package distribution, and customer service excellence.
Preferred Experience:
Previous experience as a Resident Assistant or in a residence life role is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
Events management experience is a plus.
Flexibility with nontraditional work hours.
