Carlsbad, New Mexico. About the Hospital 160 Bed Community Hospital Part of CHS Level III Trauma Center Medhost EDIS EMR Coverage includes: Teleradiology Tele Interventional Radiology Pediatrics Anesthesiology Tele-Intensivists 24/7 Ultrasound (limited) OB/GYN Ortho Hospitalist General Surgery Podiatry Gastro Optho (limited) Plastics (limited) ENT (limited) Cardio (limited) Neurology (tele) 90 min lab turn around times About the Program and Hours HM Program averages 43 pt encounters per day HM Physicians average 16-18 pt encounters per day Average of 4 admissions at night Open ICU with 24/7 tele-intensivist coverage ICU level pts consult Tele-Intensivists Hospitalist not required to do procedures but is preferred: central line, intubation, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, etc. Responds to RRT/Code CODE Team runs the Codes, but Physician responds to CODE/code. 24-hour Physician Shifts (24 hours/day) 12-hour APP Shifts (12 hours/day) Qualifications Active New Mexico license in the state or ability to attain unrestricted state license Candidate Must be IM of FM residency trained and boarded FM trained/boarded must have prior HM experience Active ACLS required. About the Community Carlsbad is located in the Chihuahuan Desert on the beautiful Pecos River at an elevation of 3,295 feet. The city, with its tree-lined streets, numerous public parks and recreation areas, including the municipal beach and greenway along Lake Carlsbad; originated as an oasis - "The Pearl on the Pecos."

Carlsbad Caverns National Park is located eighteen miles southwest of the city, with Guadalupe Mountains National Park lying forty miles further southwest across the Texas border.
