General Summary
This role requires strong PLC, controls, and electrical aptitude. This individual will be responsible for implementing PLC and HMI designs and programming that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Design, develop, maintain, document, troubleshoot, and debug PLC and HMI software.
* Program applications to meet project requirements.
* Program implementation, debug and system testing.
* Assist and direct in the physical assembly and wiring of systems.
* Documentation and revision control of work product.
* Communication with team members and clients.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
* PLC software experience and aptitude.
* Electrical and control experience and aptitude.
* Ability to write, understand, and troubleshoot PLC software in ladder, function chart, structured text, or sequential function languages.
* Ability to read, understand, and create electrical and control schematics.
* Ability to troubleshoot and debug electrical and control circuits.
* Understanding of process and machine control.
* Ability to program edge devices in complex liquid, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems including, but not limited to: Smart Motors, VFD's, Sensors, Vision Systems, Industrial Robots, Safety Systems.
* Ability to manage details of technical requirements including task assignments, tracking, and communications.
* Ability to manage multiple projects at once while maintaining project cost and schedule constraints.
* Ability to manage workload effectively, to plan, organize, and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
* Ability to work with other disciplines.
* Proven ability to design, debug, and resolve software and control systems.
Required Experience
* 5 years of PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley Logix, PLC5, SLC; other platforms a plus).
* 5 years of HMI design experience.
* Experience using MS Visual Studio and coding in Visual Basic.
* Knowledge of common industrial networks (MODBUS, EtherCat, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet).
* Knowledge of VFDs, servos and common system interfaces (CIP, Field buses).
* Ability to interpret manufacturers data sheets for edge components.
* Ability to create and read Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs).
* Ability to create and read electrical diagrams.
* Ability to read logic diagrams.
* Ability to diagram using Solidworks.
* Low-voltage and Med-voltage electrical design and layout a plus.
* Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
* Strong technical writing and communication skills.
* Team player who can adapt well to engineering standards.
Additional Requirements
* Must be able to work required hours at a desk and PC.
* Must be able to work required hours on foot on and around machine builds.
* Must be able to travel as needed, with a passport.
* Must have a valid drivers license.
* Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
