The position: The Regional EHS Manager is responsible to plan, direct, coordinate and otherwise manage the efforts of the people and the processes involved in the development and implementation of plant safety/health programs and plant environmental compliance programs in support of company standards, and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOULL DO

  • Provide safety, health and environmental support to plant staff.
  • Manage safety and health programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local safety & health standards.
  • Review all safety programs for compliance with current OSHA regulations.
  • Develop, implement and track employee and associate safety, health and environmental training in support of written programs.
  • Perform and manage plant initiatives to improve safety including safety and environmental audits, behavior-based safety program, tracking and analyzing data trends, safety committee program, safety training, incident investigation, medical response and workers compensation program.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)

  • Education: Bachelors degree or post-secondary degree in one or more of the following fields: Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Human Resources with a safety emphasis.
  • Experience: 5+ years working in a safety management capacity or equivalent training/ work experience and 1 year working in environmental or hazardous waste management capacity.
  • Skills: First Aid/Responder certifications preferred pre-hire.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations for general industry. Ability to assist all levels of the organization in understanding and complying with these.

  • Capability to effectively utilize information systems (database, email, etc.) to track and analyze data trends and engage all parties in improvement plans.
  • Knowledge about design and assembly of dry freight vans to the extent necessary to make high-level health, safety, and environmental decisions.
  • Basic understanding of welding, spray painting, shot and glass bead blasting, assembly and fabrication equipment operation to the extent that one can analyze hazards, and facilitate safety processes and programs.
  • Effective communication skills including meeting interaction, one to one employee interactions, written communication, email, interdepartmental interactions and cross-functional interactions.
  • Effective small meeting facilitation skills including preparing for, presenting and helping other people interact during meetings that may consist of up to 150 participants.
  • Ability to spend 80% of time on safety related tasks, 10% of time on health related tasks, and 10% of time on environmental related tasks.
  • Travel: Yes, approximately 50%
