Role reports to: Assistant General Counsel, Complex Commercial Litigation Practice Group Lead

Location: Skillman, NJ and will be relocating to Summit, NJ Q1 2025.

Travel %: 10

Pay: Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $137,000 to $235,750

What you will do

This Counsel, Commercial Litigation position is for an attorney within the Litigation Group of the Kenvue Legal and Compliance organization.The responsibilities of this position are to advise and represent the company concerning Complex Commercial Disputes, with an emphasis on US and Canadian litigation.

As Counsel, you will report into the Assistant General Counsel, Complex Commercial Litigation Practice Group Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

•Provide advice concerning pre-litigation commercial disputes.

•Provide advice regarding avoidance or initiation of litigation or arbitration as appropriate.

•Develop and implement affirmative litigation strategies.

•Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations and other legal proceedings.

•Select and supervise outside litigation counsel.

•Develop strategy and substantive tactics (in consultation with outside counsel) in litigation and arbitration.

•Oversee retention of experts and consultants to support and/or testify in litigation and arbitration.

•Negotiate and manage legal budgets.

•Respond to third party subpoenas.

•Advise the company on commercial issues that relate to existing or potential litigation or arbitrations.

•Provide advice across a broad range of civil matters, including contract disputes (e.g., licenses, supply agreements, etc.), class actions, product liability, and administrative proceedings.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

•A minimum of a JD is required

•A Minimum of 8 years as a practicing attorney is required.

•Admission to the Bar and in good standing in a state required.

•Extensive commercial litigation experience is required.

•Ability to master complex substantive legal frameworks, including commercial, advertising, regulatory, tax, securities, product liability and other substantive practice areas.

•Ability to work collaboratively within the Legal and Compliance organization, as well as with Commercial, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Finance, and other Kenvue colleagues.

•Ability to influence cross-functional partners and upper management to impact decision making.

•Ability to "have an opinion" backed by insight and confidence to influence stakeholders in meetings and on a one-on-one basis.

•Outstanding and clear communication skills, ability to think analytically to understand complex or ambiguous problems or issues and articulate solutions/conclusions clearly and concisely.

•Business acumen with ability to appropriately use judgment and risk-taking.

•Ability to travel 10-20% domestically.

Desired Qualifications

•Experience in one or more of these practice areas is a plus.

•Prior experience in consumer products, pharmaceutical, and/or medical device industries is preferred.

•Experience representing CPG firms is a plus.
