Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance. Exercises professional judgments in performance of procedures. Provides patient care.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:1. Understands and adheres to the Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors2. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires3. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality, completeness for the type of ttest ordered4. Assists physicians during procedures as necessary5. Performs quality assurance and calibrations as needed6. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department7. Maintains the cleanliness of all areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to MRI supervisor8. Prints patient CD if needed9. Performs routine office duties, such as answering the phones, checking previous reports/ films, documents information on patients request, utilizes EMR and PACS systems10. Notifies front desk staff upon exam completion11. Shows radiologist images and calls report to attending physician and documents communication if necessary (STAT readings)12. May be assigned as instructor or preceptor13. Introduces themselves and educates each patient or family member regarding the examination that is ordered14. Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric groups.15. Attends staff meetings and in-services16. Performs all other related duties as assignedEducation& Experience Requirements:•Must graduate from an accredited radiography school or hospital based program.Technologist must be certified by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT), ARMRIT become ARRT MR certified within 1 year of hire date.NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph•Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on year of birth.•BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 days of hire.•IV certification preferred or by completion of 6 month orientation.•MRI safety certification level 2 required yearlyCore Competencies:Must be able to speak, write, understand and communicate the English language.•Retain composure under stress•Teamwork & Adaptability•Acts as a Professional Role Model•Assessment Skills•Excellent Communication Skills (both verbal and written)•Attention to Detail•Planning & Organizing•Sound Problem-Solving, Judgment and Decision-Making Skills•Stress TolerancePhysical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment:•Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the time•The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside all of the MRI zones to access coils, patients and paperwork.•Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery•The person in this position frequently communicates with patients who have questions about their bills/financial obligations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.•Must be able to observe and inspect employees and patients in all of the MRI zones•Frequently move and position patients for MRI exams•May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).
