Occupational Therapists are also responsible for supervising any occupational therapy assistants. This position will be responsible for serving the pediatric outpatient population part-time, possibly going into the school system setting and part-time outpatient orthopedics. Will also be required to perform some OT services in the acute care setting. QualificationsEDUCATION & TRAINING:Must be a graduate from an accredited school/program of Occupational TherapyEXPERIENCE:One year experience as an Occupational Therapist recommended but not required.Able to perform Occupational Therapy in the outpatient setting; prefer pediatric experience but not required. LICENSES & CERTIFICATION:Current license as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Tennessee.Current BCLS certification.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Observes and evaluates treatment affect. Recommends change to physician, if neededPerforms an appropriate assessment on each patient, as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments, as per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patientsAble to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation - makes appropriate physician contact for interventionPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errorsFormulates a teaching plan based on Identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriateDemonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalitiesTreats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their familiesManages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safetyInteracts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of careAdheres to dress code, appearance is neat and cleanCompletes annual education requirementsMaintains regulatory requirementsMaintains patient confidentiality at all timesReports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated timeWears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctlyCompletes in-services and returns in a timely fashionAttends annual review and department in-services, as scheduledAttends staff meetings, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutesRepresents the organization in a positive and professional mannerActively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (COI) activitiesComplies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practicesCommunicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the departmentHenry County Medical Center is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
