JOB DESCRIPTION General Statement of Duties To ensure the highest level of service possible to internal and external customers. To serve customers, prepare sandwiches, keep deli supplies stocked and organized, and assist in keeping area clean. Under general direction from the Deli Manager, the Deli Clerk performs a variety of duties and provides support in day-to-day operations of the Deli. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Maintain regular, reliable and prompt attendance, physically present to work; * Customer Service Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect. Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standard. Assist as needed. * Department Operations Prepare and portion items as assigned by Sr. Clerk/Supervisor. This will include but is not limited to sandwiches and other items that can be made at the service counter. Ensure deli case and salad bar is clean, stocked, rotated, garnished and appealing to customers during entire shift. Perform all established opening/closing duties. Assist other clerks/cooks as needed. Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs. * Communication Deliver superior guest services and ensure guest satisfaction. Communicates respectfully at all times. Does not expose customers to internal disagreements. Resolves conflicts respectfully and in a timely manner, asks for assistance from appropriate supervisor as needed. Checks mailbox and/or email regularly. Participates actively in department team and all staff meetings * Safety Maintains safe work environment according to all department procedures, federal and state regulations. Wears protective clothing as required for position. Understands and utilizes safe lifting procedures and proper step stools. * Continually maintain a clean area, including hygenic and tidiness at all times. * Understand and adheres to organizational and department policy and procedures. * Accepts and offers feedback and suggestions openly and respectfully. * Accepts direction willingly and follows through with delegated tasks. * Learns and adapts to new tasks or situations quickly and cooperatively. * Maintains job-related confidentiality. * Takes initiative to identify, report and resolve problems before they can escalate. * Provides a positive model for co-workers. Incumbent must have the ability to work flexible hours including holidays, evenings, and weekends, if needed. Participation in City sponsored special events, trainings, or meetings may be required. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment Individual will work mostly indoors and be able to work a flexible schedule. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Required to stand for long periods and walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend or reach. Be able to handle continuous repetitive motions. General and specific assignments are received and are usually under little direct supervision allowing latitude for use of independent judgment. Minimum Qualifications Required high school diploma or equivalent GED. Valid Texas Driver's License. Able to obtain Food Handler's Permit.
