Summary:

Under minimal supervision, the Senior Application Analyst is responsible for providing exceptional customer support, training, and troubleshooting for various applications. Senior Analysts are experts in a variety of Applications, third-party applications, and integration points. The role involves guiding informed decisions about system upgrades and leading the design and testing of improvements. Sr. Analyst are tasked with identifying alternative solutions for complex problems and proactively addressing system performance issues.

The Sr Application Analyst must manage requests, participate in strategic planning, and contribute to the implementation of new functionality. Sharing knowledge and mentoring team members is a key aspect of the role, along with a focus on continuous learning and skill development. All Sr. Analysts have a strong grasp of operational workflows and industry standards, and the ability to quickly learn new system functionalities. Sr. Analyst use their technical expertise, critical thinking skills, excellent communication skills and attention to detail to help establish standards for support and guide future development for their areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(25%)* Uses a strong understanding of business systems and industry requirements to work with business owners and users to document requirements and workflows. Design and maintain content and key system controls (codes tables, master files, user?s interfaces etc.).

(25%)* Trouble shoots problems and incidents. Recommends innovative solutions.

(10%)* Plans, executes, and documents supporting evidence of application testing.

(15%)* Collects information regarding potential system enhancement needs and analyzes new functionality in releases to determine how it should be used.

(15%)* Analyzes application capabilities to optimize its use within workflows.

(5%)* Assists in cross training team members and users.

(5%)* Able to lead additional projects including software updates and changes.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Exhibit a commitment to exceptional customer service while providing Go-Live or Daily end user support and training of Applications.

Maintains expertise as subject matter expert to one or more applications and integrated areas, with strong knowledge of all third-party applications. Utilize knowledge of all application integrations and transition points between primary application and third-party applications to troubleshoot and provide support.

Drives informed decisions on system upgrades and enhancements by leading conceptualization, creation, testing, and upkeep of system improvements.

Deliver prompt, efficient, and effective customer assistance by skillfully addressing reported concerns until they are successfully resolved by bringing all necessary parties together and delegating tasks to ensure success.

Facilitate and lead meetings, manage priorities, resolve conflicts, maintain a comprehensive issues list, and maintain project tasks within specified timelines.

Leads applications teams in coordinating the design, build, testing, training, and troubleshooting of their primary application. Supports all staff in efforts to resolve critical issues and meet deadlines.

Identifies and presents alternative options for solutions to complex problems, with a focus on efficiency and reliability.

Proactively identify and resolve system performance issues. Regularly analyze performance metrics and implement optimizations to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Execute system updates and changes in accordance to IT incident and change policies and procedures, including documentation of process, testing, and approvals.

Manage medium to large-size requests from inception to completion. Develop and manage plans and timelines, coordinate resources within IT, and ensure that requests are delivered within scope and on time.

Actively participate in strategic planning for the application system and develop implementation plans for new system functionality. Works collaboratively with other members of the IT team and end-users to develop and implement these plans.

Participates in an on-call support rotation to address organizational urgent needs.

Travel between MyMichigan Locations may be required to support applications and go-live implementations.

Acts as a mentor and subject matter expert, sharing knowledge and best practices with team members. Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions, training programs, and documentation repositories to promote continuous learning and skill development.

Equivalent Experience: Associates Degree or Bachelors in IT, business, or healthcare field with four (4) or more years of work-related experiences providing advanced application system support.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Five (5) or more years prior work experience within Healthcare IT, with a strong understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare terminology, and industry standards.

One (1) or more active Epic Certification(s)/Accreditation(s) or relevant healthcare certifications demonstrating expertise in specific applications.

Quickly learns new system functionality and keeps up to date with the latest application enhancements.

Has a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the application system, including data structures, system architecture, and system integration, and can troubleshoot complex technical issues.

Strong analytical thinking skills to dissect complex problems, assess various options, and make informed decisions in support and implementation of Applications.

Demonstrates strong attention to detail to ensure system integrity and accuracy.

Effectively translates and communicate complex technical solutions across various groups to help drive informed decision making by stake holders.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with stakeholders, team members, and end users in a clear and concise manner.

Interacts positively with end users and teammates, empathizing with their needs and translating them into system enhancements.

Demonstrates collaborative mindset to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and build positive relationships.

Expert in change management principles and practices, facilitating smooth transitions during system upgrades and implementations.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
