Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Write detailed functional specifications that document newly created designs and support product introduction.
  • Provide technical support to team throughout product development and implementation process.
  • Test and verify hardware to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, by recording and analyzing test data.
  • Model, build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with simulation.
  • Lend technical expertise to Installed Base teams to support design fixes and customer escalations.
  • Develop VHDL code to support FPGA-based designs; be proficient in simulating and debugging designs.
  • Provide input requirements to software team to develop low-level drivers for communication links.
  • Select hardware and material, assuring compliance with specifications and product requirements.
  • Engage in all phases of new product introduction: concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support.
  • Stay current with knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in FPGA/communication technology.
  • Identify and develop new opportunities to leverage Strategic Sourcing objectives and Common Technology initiatives in the MR product line.
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering [or Computer Engineering with HW focus] or equivalent experience (defined as a High School Diploma/GED and 5 years relevant work experience).
  • Experience or knowledge in digital design and control.
  • Demonstrated experience in VHDL designs and simulation tools (Altera, ModelSim).
  • Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
  • Experience with typical electrical test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience with global product releases throughout the entire product life cycle desired.
  • Experience with FPGA code design and simulation.
  • Experience with Cadence schematic capture and board layout.
  • Effective technical problem-solving behaviors.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple global projects simultaneously, balancing timing and quality of outcomes.
  • Excellent teamwork and coordination.
  • Demonstrated supplier and manufacturing interface skills.
