Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian Date Posted: 7/31/2024 Location: Richmond Elementary Closing Date: 08/10/2024 Job Summary: The Head Custodian oversees the maintenance, operation, and cleaning of the building, heating, plumbing, and electrical systems to provide safe and comfortable surroundings for staff and students. Duties/Responsibilities: Inspects and monitors heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical equipment and supporting equipment for efficient and proper operation. Reports all problems to the Director of Buildings and Grounds. Maintains a current boiler license. Daily and weekend building and equipment checks. Decides what custodial supplies are needed and orders supplies for the building through the Director of Buildings and Grounds for approval. Makes recommendations on budget needed for effective building operation or equipment replacement. Assist Director of Buildings and Grounds in monitoring work of outside contractors or suppliers to ensure work performed meets job specifications. Cleans boiler and hot water heaters and inspects for wear or needed repairs to ensure heating systems meet or pass state or insurance company inspections. Supervise and coordinate the work of custodians and cleaners. Job Requirements: Minimum HS diploma required. Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with school personnel, students, parents, and members of the community. Strong organizational and planning skills. Boilers license preferred, low voltage certification preferred. Efficient time management and some supervisory experience.
