The PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Infectious Diseases at BIDMC is designed to transition PGY1 residency graduates from generalist practice to specialized practice focused on the care of patients with infectious diseases. Required Educational Outcomes Promote health improvement, wellness, and the prevention of infectious diseases Optimize the outcomes of individuals with an infectious disease by providing evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team or as an independent clinician Manage and improve anti-infective-use processes Demonstrate excellence in the provision of educational activities for health care professionals and health care professionals in training centering on optimizing anti-infective pharmacotherapy Serve as an authoritative resource on the optimal use of medications used to treat individuals with an infectious disease Demonstrate leadership and practice management skills Conduct infectious diseases pharmacy practice research Residency Eligibility Qualifications for participation in the PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program are in accordance with criteria set forth by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). Graduate of an ASHP Accredited PGY1 Pharmacy training degree program Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program Resident must be licensed or eligible for licensure (reciprocity or examination) at the start of the residency, then fully licensed in Massachusetts within 90 days from the start of the residency Resident must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Work authorization sponsorship for this position is unavailable. Resident shall participate in and obey the rules of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Resident Matching Program Application Materials Letter of Interest, including a statement of professional goals and reasons for pursuing a PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Curriculum Vitae Three Letters of Recommendation Official Pharmacy School Transcript Application Process Submit applications electronically using the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application (PhORCAS). All applicants must provide the above materials. Completed applications are reviewed by members of the Residency Advisory Committee to determine candidates that most closely align with the program goals, with a focus on diversity and inclusion. Selected candidates will be invited to a personal virtual interview that will include a 15?minute clinical case presentation. Interviews entail one full day of meetings with the Residency Director, clinical preceptors, administrative staff, and current residents. Acknowledgement of Residency Match Residents matched to the BIDMC Residency program will receive an acceptance letter outlining the terms of the residency. Acceptance is confirmed by the residents written acknowledgment and agreement to fulfill residency duties. Pharmacy Licensure Verification Participation in the residency is contingent on securing and maintaining a license without restriction in Massachusetts within 90 days of commencing the program.
