Summary:
This position must have basic knowledge of triage for the specialty of the practice assigned and ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients. This position is responsible for the coordination of the MyMichigan Medical Group (MMG) and contracted nurse triage service staff to assure high quality, compassionate patient care. They will maintain and oversee employees and patients at the specialty office locations and will act as the liaison with contracted nurse triage personnel. The Supervisor Registered Nurse (RN) will assure compliance with the policies/procedures of MMG and the Health Care System by maintaining Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, Clinical laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations, and corporate compliance. The Supervisor RN will coordinate and train of any new employees, students, and float staff. This position provides daily direction and problem solving to clinical staff.
Responsibilities:(30%)*Handles day-to-day clinical operations for the nurse triage service and utilizes critical thinking skills to resolve issues. This includes assisting with development, implementation and monitoring of protocols, compliance metrics and performance standards for the nurse triage service.
(25%)*The Supervisor RN will coordinates and trains new employees, students, and float staff and conducts coaching and disciplinary conversations, along with job performance reviews for all staff. Processes time keeping in the Kronos system for bi-weekly payroll. Facilitate the hiring process and selection of new employees.
(25%)*Frequently interacts positively with assigned staff and providers in an ongoing way. Provides information to patients, affiliated MPG providers, and staff so they may fully utilize and benefit from the MMG nurse triage service and the services of MyMichigan Health.
(20%)*Performs clinical duties as needed for triaging patient calls that includes assessment of patients as appropriate and serve as a liaison between the provider and patient.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interacts positively with patients and families during severe stress situation.
Demonstrates critical thinking and integration of theory to practice for internal medicine patients.
Provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to department standards and policies/procedures as evidenced by observation, documentation and peer feedback.
Maintains medical supplies to assure consistent supply levels to meet the needs of the patients.
Understands necessary computer functions in the office setting: Epic, Dictation systems, and any other necessary programs to assist providers and staff.
Provides coverage for clinical staff as needed. Room patients during office visits and perform and record all vital signs on patient.
Assess physical as well as social needs of the patient and assists providers with Medicare Wellness Visits.
Verify patient demographic information and maintain clinical documentation as outlines in MMG policies and procedures.
Answers and responds to patient phone calls or messages, assists with medication refills.
Provides coverage for the Practice Manager as needed.
Assists as a Super User for the Epic systems and/or provides clinical updates and education to all clinical staff.
Provides and leads clinical staff meetings and team huddles as scheduled.
Provides education and clinical competency assessments/training to new hires.
Prepares and provides education to clinical staff to meet application standards, including Joint Commission, Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Comprehensiver Primary Care (CPC+) requirements.
Attends and participates in meetings related to these standards.
Management of the patient with symptoms management, and will be available for care emergencies.
Coordinates and ensure continuity of care with other providers including patient admits and transfers to the medical center.
Identifies preventative maintenance needs for any office equipment.
Conducts performance review of clinical staff and conducts follow up as appropriate.
All other duties as assigned.

Comments: BSN in nursing is preferred.

Previous management experience including coaching, leading and mentoring employees.
Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group.
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
PC software knowledge must include: Excel and Word.
Knowledge of medical office policies, practices and procedures as normally acquired through three to five years working in the healthcare system or similar setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and interact with people at all levels to communicate concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Prefer one year of supervisory experience.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.
May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.
Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.
May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level:Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
