The company has 26 operating mines and processing facilities and two additional exploration stage properties across the United States and is headquartered in Katy, Texas.The Maintenance Mechanic I repairs and maintains plant machinery, equipment, structures, tools and facilities as needed to meet production needs in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Be a role model and advocate for safety among co-workersPerform all tasks in an environmentally responsible mannerPerform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks as assignedPerform general maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisorComplete routine paper and/or computer work (work orders, work hours, parts, etc.)Uses typical mechanic's tools, equipment, and inspection gaugesWorks from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches, and IFS work order systemsUses shop math on a routine basisCleans debris and lubricant from parts, work area and equipmentOperates production equipment as requiredFunctions as mechanic's helper when assigned to work with senior mechanicsClean parts, tools and working areaWork overtime as neededWork on-call as required.EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience3 - 5 years of general experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing settingValid driver's licenseGather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessaryMechanical aptitudeUnderstand purpose and function of basic mechanic tools (wrenches, screw drivers, pneumatic and power tools, pry bars, impact, pliers, etc...)Basic computer skills (entering work hours, work orders, parts usage, etc.)Forklift, man lift, and scissor lift experience preferred; not requiredU.S. Silica is an equal opportunity employer for all without regard to race, gender, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
