UX / User Research Specialist

Seeking a dedicated User Research Specialist to lead our organization through a critical transition from Tableau to PowerBI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user research and business intelligence tools, with a focus on understanding user needs and facilitating a smooth transition to new technologies.

Responsibilities

: This is a unique role as you are a "people focused" strategist who identifies and designs technical, UX, UI, and learning solutions. 70%

User Research Conduct comprehensive user research to understand the current utilization of Tableau reports across the organization. Engage with users through interviews, surveys, and workshops to gather insights into their reporting needs, usage patterns, pain points, and important features within the current system. Analyze the inventory of existing Tableau reports and develop a clear disposition strategy for the report inventory, including consolidation, retirement, or migration of reports. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and ensure that the transition supports these goals effectively. Create detailed user personas and journey maps to guide the design and development of new PowerBI reports. Gather user feedback to rapidly test and iterate designs from low fidelity to high 20% Solution Design

Work closely with the BI development team to communicate user requirements and ensure the new PowerBI reports meet or exceed user expectations. Provide support and training materials to assist users in adapting to PowerBI, addressing concerns, and enhancing their data visualization capabilities. Design compelling visuals, storyboards, presentations, and immersive experiences that inform, inspire, and engage users. 10% - Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

(Degree/Certifications/License/Experience/Specialized Knowledge/Skills) Education/Experience

8+ years of experience in the following or similar areas: Product Design, Service Design, User Experience, and Business Analysis Proven experience in user research, particularly in software or business intelligence tool adoption. Strong understanding of data visualization platforms. Formal training or certification in PowerBI or related business intelligence tools is preferred.

Experience with data analysis and business intelligence best practices.

Ability to analyze and synthesize large amounts of data and feedback to inform decision-making. Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement. Experience in creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. Formal education or certification in one or more of the following: Human-Centered Design, Design Thinking, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field is also preferred. Excellent knowledge of user-centered research principles. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Familiarity with change management principles and methodologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with users at all levels of the organization. Ability to clearly communicate the benefits and insights of user research in a way that generates empathy amongst cross-functional teams of designers, engineers, product managers, and leadership. Ability to adapt existing research methods to the needs of the effort / team and to define new research methods as needed. Able to proactively identify, scope, and prepare business cases to support the selection of a migration support vendor in conjunction with process owners/managers. Can adhere to and evolve existing brand identity, visual concepts, and design systems. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to: the individual's skill sets, experience and training; licensure and certification requirements; office location and other geographic considerations; other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure.
