SUMMARY

Reviews Personal Lines routine risks for processing through renewal and endorsement underwriting and supports the underwriting staff by compiling data and performing clerical tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtains, reviews and processes documents such as Personal Lines application forms, inspection reports and motor vehicle reports to determine degree of risk from such factors as applicant financial standing, occupation, accident experience, and value and condition of property. Composes underwriting notes to Personal Lines underwriters.
  • Reviews correspondence, records and motor vehicle reports to select routine matters for processing or to route to Personal Lines Intermediate Underwriters for further evaluation.
  • Communicates, as directed by Personal Lines Underwriters (Technical Specialist/Lead/Senior), with marketing representatives, agency personnel, other insurance or inspection companies, or other entities, as necessary, to obtain more information to formulate criteria for quoting purposes.
  • Applies average product knowledge including, but not limited to, Company Personal Lines underwriting guidelines and policy forms, Insurance Services Office's manuals and forms as well as knowledge of and familiarity with rating processes for all Company Personal Lines product offerings.
  • Processes quotes based on criteria provided by the Personal Lines underwriters (Technical Specialists/Lead/Senior).
  • Keys data into the Company's computer system, and documents via the Imaging System. Communicates, using the PC network/Company computer system, the telephone, facsimile, and e-mail, Personal Lines underwriter recommendations to the agents, as necessary.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
  • Computer knowledge and comfortable using the Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree and 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
