We promote hope and empowerment to persons and families touched by mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and multiple occurring diagnoses, and their related challenges.As a Street Outreach Worker with BCCS, you will: The Home 4 Good project (administered by the Delaware State Housing Authority) is street outreach that provides services to individuals and families living unsheltered and who qualify under the definition of homelessness. Services for eligible program participants are provided on the street or in parks, abandoned buildings, bus stations, campgrounds, and in other such settings where people living unsheltered are staying. Be responsible for locating, identifying, and building relationships with people living unsheltered for the purpose of providing immediate support, intervention, and connections with homeless assistance programs and/or mainstream social services and housing programs. Develop engagement and case management activities to provide essential services to connect participants with emergency shelter, housing, and critical services. The Street Outreach Worker is often our first impression of BCCS, and therefore, are expected to maintain professional standards. The Street Outreach Worker must be always conscious of this responsibility and expectation. BCCS core values should be exemplified in an outreach worker's professional conduct, attitude, and approach. This is a primarily community-based position, so work will be performed outside of an office setting on a regular and consistent basisSchedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or... 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Possible nights and weekends for community events.Qualifications: REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED REQUIRED: Valid driver's license with 2 points or less REQUIRED: 1 year experience in Outreach or Social Services REQUIRED: Must be a peer. BCCS employs a diverse workforce, and we especially encourage applications from those who are in recovery. This position requires that the candidate chosen for it is a peer. BCCS defines a peer as anyone who is in recovery from addiction to drugs, alcohol, or mental health. REQUIRED: Must be in recovery for a minimum of 2 years. PREFERRED: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS). If you are not certified, certification is required within the first year of employment.
