Manager, Business Intelligence

The Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytics will work closely with functional leaders, business units, and subject matter experts to identify, develop, test, and deploy a variety of BI and Analytics assets to both internal and external customers. The Manager leads a team of Data Analysts and BI Developers to execute strategic BI initiatives while fostering a culture of data-driven decision making. They will evaluate and improve processes around BI & Analytics projects and will help the department further adopt an Agile mindset. This is a high impact people leader role, directing highly visible work and engaging frequently with senior management across the enterprise. The Manager will play a pivotal role in helping Allied create greater business transparency leveraging data while driving adoption of a self-service analytics operating model.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning, Communication, and Stakeholder Engagement (40%):
* Collaborate with senior leadership and key stakeholders to understand business objectives and priorities.
* Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
* Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and support for analytics projects.
* Represent the BI and Analytics function and resources in Quarterly PI Planning.
* Create stakeholder communication plan for active BI initiatives and regularly provides status updates to those stakeholders.
* Co-create & own the BI & Analytics Community of Practice and holds regular enterprise-wide meetings.
* Collaborate on deploying the Self-Service Operating model across the enterprise and acts as lead for measuring the success.
Leadership and Team Management (30%):
* Manage and mentor a team of analysts and developers.
* Set goals and objectives for the team and monitor progress.
* Provide guidance and support to the team and ensure successful project delivery.
* Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback to team members.
* Allocate and track BI & Analytics resources, demand, and capacity.
* Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on continuous learning and improvement.
* Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members.
BI & Analytics Solution Development & Oversight (30%):
* Lead the design, development and implementation of business intelligence solutions.
* Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure data ingestion, modelling, and engineering work is completed, supporting the needs of the business BI projects.
* Ensure data quality, integrity, and security through the implementation of data governance policies and procedures.
* Provide technical guidance and support to the team on complex projects.
* Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in BI and Analytics technologies.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of BI and Analytics solutions and make recommendations for improvement.
* Translate data needs and strategic objectives into technical requirements.
* Apply product thinking and an agile mindset to the BI development process, refining where necessary.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications & KSA):
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field required.
* 6+ years of people leader/management experience.
* 6+ years combined experience developing and leading data analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
* Strong working experience with Microsoft's Power Platform / Fabric (specifically Power BI).
* Microsoft Data Analyst Certification is preferred.
* Experience working with cloud data capabilities and data ecosystems.
* Experience conducting cost benefit analyses.
* Agile experience is a plus.
* Experience with data access tools such as SQL, statistical analysis/modeling tools such as R or Python, and BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
* Demonstrated ability working with real time or batch data integrations to integrate data from disparate source systems into data lakes/data warehouses.
* Demonstrated success building and leading highly skilled, multi-disciplinary, analytics teams.
* Requires strong business and technical acumen.
* Strong analytical and product management skills required.
* Strategic mindset with demonstrated experience in implementing data frameworks and driving continuous improvement.
* Previous experience working in a start-up or on product development is a plus.
* Proven ability to complete projects and achieve results in an ambiguous work environment.
* Demonstrated Critical Thinking Skills.
* Familiarity with a modern data stack (Informatica, Glue, Boomi, dbt, Fivetran, Snowflake, AWS, etc.) a plus.
* Ability to work and make decisions independently.
* Familiarity with Object Oriented Analysis, Project Management, Business Analysis Methodology, and the SDLC.
* Experience in the insurance or financial services industry a plus.
