Postdoc positions in computational materials physics

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF) has two openings for postdoctoral research positions in computational/theoretical materials physics. The research will focus on one or more of the following topics: (i) Atomic-level understanding of the kinetics of solid-solid phase transitions, (ii) First-principles design and discovery of synthesizable high-entropy materials for energy and electronic applications, and (ii) Development of new transferable physics-driven machine learning models for the fast and accurate prediction of material properties. Other emergent materials research topics may also be explored. The positions involve close collaboration with experimentalists. Candidates must have demonstrated expertise in Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations and hold (or expect to obtain soon) a PhD in computational materials physics or a related field. Experience in machine learning, Python programming, and first-principles studies of thermodynamics and defects in solids is highly desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
