Geisinger's Department of Ophthalmology is a driven, successful and growing multi-specialty group with both optometrists and ophthalmologists, including Cataract / Comprehensive as well as subspecialists in Retina, Glaucoma, Cornea, Oculoplastics, and pediatrics.
Ability to take on a growing practice
Experience or Residency training preferred
Our highly trained Optometrists practice medical optometry, to the highest scope of practice, working closely and co-managing patients with our ophthalmologists.
State of the art diagnostic testing, including OCT, Pentacam, Visual Fields, and Optos Fundus photography

Position Details
An optometrist is a doctor of optometry, an OD. A health care professional who is licensed to provide primary eye care services. Optometrists examine and diagnose eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts and retinal diseases; diagnose related systemic (body-wide) conditions such as hypertension and diabetes that may affect the eyes; examine, diagnose and treat visual conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia; and prescribe glasses, contact lenses, low-vision rehabilitation and medications. Optometrists also perform minor surgical procedures such as the removal of foreign bodies.
Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories.Performsand/orinterpretsdiagnostic testsas needed.
Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness.May prescribeor administermedications.Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that includepatients'histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
