Position Overview Sentech Architectural Systems is an Austin-based structural glass and specialty façade design, engineering, and manufacturing company that serves the needs of leading architecture and building industry professionals on some of the most unique and challenging structural glass and specialty façade projects in the world.

We are currently looking to expand our Engineering department and are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Structural) who will be responsible for performing structural design of our glass systems and overseeing the projects through the approval, manufacturing, and installation phases of projects. Knowledge and/or interest in learning the ins and outs of steel, stainless steel and aluminum manufacturing are critical to success in this role.

This is a full-time onsite position with ample room for learning, professional growth, and development for those who demonstrate the desire and ability to understand the complexities involved in the custom fabrication of structural glass and specialty façade systems.

Responsibilities Analyze project plans and specifications of complex structural façade systems. Independently analyze and design glass, aluminum, and steel structures using hand-calculations, analysis software, and design codes and standards Lead the development of calculation packages for façade systems in accordance with local building codes and project specifications Collaborate closely with the design team to develop, review, approve and provide guidance on submittal and fabrication/manufacturing drawings Work directly with Head of Engineering to develop design concepts for complex projects and façade systems

Required Skills and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering; advanced degree preferred Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) Registration, or the ability to gain licensure 5+ years of experience with structural design of building façade or enclosure systems; experience with metal-framed glazed systems preferred Understanding of basic and advanced structural engineering concepts including static calculations, non-linear material and geometry behavior, buckling of slender elements, and structural dynamics In depth knowledge of material design codes such as AISC, etc. In depth knowledge of building codes such as IBC and ASCE 7 Advanced experience using 3D frame analysis software such as SAP2000, STAAD, RISA-3D, etc. Advanced experience with finite element analysis software such as Strand7, MEPLA, Abaqus, ANSYS, etc. Experience interpreting project plans and specifications of structural systems Outstanding communication and organizational skills Exceptional attention to detail Works well in a team environment

Preferred Skills and Experience Detailing experience using AutoCAD. Experience with manufacturing and installation processes including developing, reviewing, and approving manufacturing drawings. Experience with design of glass and aluminum systems. Experience with façade thermal analysis (WINDOW, THERM, etc.)
