Sr. Staff Accountant

Location: Chester, Vermont; Hybrid

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Staff Accountant who will oversee the daily operations of our Chester, Vermont plant accounting department. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining accounting processes and procedures, and managing the accounting team. The location will be hybrid with one day a week in the office with the Accounting Team and as needed for position backup.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accounting journal entries, analysis, reporting and general ledger account reconciliations for e-commerce revenue and royalties, capitalized production and software development labor, prepaid expenses, and other accounts.
  • Prepare financial reports for revenue and capitalized labor.
  • Manage and oversee the updating of the Access job tracking labor database.
  • Create labor cost reports from Access job tracking labor database.
  • Complete related accounting or financial tasks as requested by upper management.
  • Supervise and manage the accounts payable, payroll hours processing, and purchasing team members.
  • Review, monitor, and improve accounting procedures as needed.
  • Serve as back-up for accounts payable, purchasing, and payroll processing.
Experience & Background Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or an associate degree with 5+ years supervisory experience. A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible accounting roles or a combination of equivalent work and education experience may be considered.
  • Above-average proficiency with Microsoft's Excel.
  • Working knowledge of Access or other Databases.
  • Experience with Dynamics GP or another comparable business accounting software.
  • Knowledge of accounting and accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
