Responsibilities:
  • Lead project teams to develop and deliver design solutions for a wide range of transportation related drainage, stormwater and water resources projects including collection systems and analysis of storm drainage features, Floodplain analysis for hydraulic structures and FEMA compliance, Stormwater Control Measures and Sediment and Erosion Control Best Management Practices
  • Ensure delivery of design, plans, specifications, technical reports and analyses so that the project scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements are met.
  • Develop and Mentor stormwater staff.
  • Participate in business development activities such as proposal responses, client meetings, scopes/estimates, and business planning activities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college.
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer license (PE) or the ability to obtain North Carolina Licensing within 6 months of employment.
  • Strong background using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design software such as Microstation/GeoPak/OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-2, TR-55, StormCAD, SWMM, SRH-2D, etc.
  • Familiarity with NCDOT plan preparation criteria and design standards.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and with large multi-discipline engineering teams is important.
  • Affiliations with professional societies and industry and community involvement are desirable.

Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, keyboard and mouse. Use of a telephone headset will allow for virtual communication with team members through Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods, use hands/fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
