Position Summary

Performs laboratory tests to support research efforts in identifying potential drug or biologic candidates for efficacy against disease through a variety of scientific techniques, instrumentation, and disciplines by performing the following duties. In addition, the Lab Tech will be responsible for patient registration procedures and medical record processing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Works collectively with the clinical team by providing services as directed by the physician and/or nurse manager.
• Generate Data from a Variety of Laboratory techniques and analytic instrumentation such as Hematology, Chemistry.
• Participate in experiment designed to evaluate the effectiveness of new methodology by running batch samples against library of known substances , Controls, Calibrators .
• Adheres to industry and government standards regarding technique and safe handling of biohazards materials/Specimens .
• Calibrates analytical instrumentation.
• Tabulates and Graphs data , and prepare technical reports for Lead Lab Tech / Lab Manager.
• Access data acquisition software and enters data in multiple or off-site such as Proficiency testing institute.
• Maintains laboratory notebooks, archives, and sample or specimen repository.
• Facilitate daily deposits and perform cash reconciliations
• Maintain daily financial log including documenting patient financial class, amount owed, amount collected, and scanning completion
• Maintain daily patient log including documenting chief complaint, time and date of entry, time and date of exit, services rendered, and discharge/transfer information
• Document patient volumes for the previous day
• Maintain and compile reports and informational packets for distribution
• Maintain patient charts; including creating new files, scanning files into the computer system, filing, shifting, and breaking down charts
• Scan charts to medical records department. In the event there are missing signatures and or any type of deficiencies, will be responsible to obtain signatures or anything that is needed.
• Responsible for photocopying records and documents for billing purposes
• Perform clerical duties, including mail delivery, faxing, copying, and scanning
• Responsible for answering, screening, and directing incoming phone calls
• Collect co-payments or other applicable financial payments
• Perform any job related to the registration process, not limited, but to also include:
• Insurance Verification print outs
• Nightly Census report
• Perform other duties as assigned

• High School Diploma or equivalent; one to two years related experience and/or training preferred.
• Maintains professional growth and development though seminars, workshops, and professional affiliation to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise
• Seeks feedback to enhance own performance
• Completes annual educational requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
