Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Operations, perform routine ground maintenance, perform routine custodial maintenance to provide a healthy, safe and attractive physical environment for students and staff. Duties and responsibilities change from day to day, and the maintenance team has a dynamic workflow. However, a substitute custodian may be required to * Perform a variety of general grounds maintenance work, such as mowing and watering lawns, week terrain, sweep walks and parking areas, pick up trash, rake leaves, trim trees/foliage. * Operate power mowers, sprayers, edgers, trimmers, and other hand tools and ground equipment * Maintain running and walking tracks including weeding, leveling, dragging and dressing as needed. * Minor painting and caulking. * Inspect and repair playground equipment including replenishment of park and sand as required. * Clean assigned classrooms, offices, hallways, workrooms, eating areas, locker rooms, common use areas and all other district rooms. * Clean, restock and disinfect restrooms * Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax polish tile and linoleum, vacuum and shampoo carpets, clean drinking fountains, windows white boards, walls and vents. * Empty and clean trash receptacles. * Pick up trash, lost and found and sporting equipment. * Ensure the campus is safe. * Move, rearrange, or adjust furniture and equipment upon request. * Perform minor repairs as needed; report maintenance issues to supervisor. * Lock and unlock doors and gates and turn on/off alarm system. * Check campus for vandalism and break-ins; follow established safety procedures and report safety hazards and vandalism to supervisor. * Perform building repair or maintenance including, but not limited to, the repair and/or maintenance of doors/windows, HVAC systems, electrical systems, toilet partitions and fixtures, ADA features, and commercial plumbing systems. * Assist water system engineer with maintenance of water system.Requirements / QualificationsResume and 3 references.Comments and Other InformationWorkers must be 18 years of age (or 16 with a work permit), possess a valid California driver's license (preferred but not required), a social security card, and provide their own transportation to work each day.
