POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications Specialist plays a pivotal role in producing quality copy across a variety of platforms, including marketing communications, web content, brand development, and Press Releases with a consistent voice that represents Cooper Steel.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel's core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production
  2. Communicate effectively with multiple departments to ensure our voice and branding is carried out consistently
  3. Write, edit, and streamline short and long form copy
  4. Continually learn, research, and recommend compelling copy ideas based on best practices per channel
  5. Collaborate across department teams to understand brand objectives and incorporate them into communications
  6. Contribute to content planning and strategy of marketing efforts in collaboration with the marketing department and overall company goals
  7. Maintain a detail-oriented eye, ensuring accuracy and consistency in all communications
  8. Work closely with the Marketing Director to assist with other projects as needed
  9. Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5-years of experience in copywriting in a creative/marketing environment, construction experience preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience creating compelling stories that have the balance of creativity and function
  • Thrives in an environment where high quality work must be produced in tight deadlines
  • Strong grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation


OTHER SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; good judgment; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; confidentiality and professionalism; outstanding copywriting and proofreading skills; computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint; highly developed organizational, planning and oral and written communication skills; ability to work well with others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position is in a typical office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
