General Responsibilities- The primary responsibility of the Licensed Mental Health Professional is to act as liaison, consultant, organizer, and key team member of the stakeholder group and to oversee the integration of services, procedures, and protocols to support children with mental health needs, as well as support thier familes. This position is scho9ol based and is responsible for coordinatin mental health services and prevention efforts, as well as overseeing comprehensive support for children with mental health challenges, chronic stress, and trauma.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Arkansas School Counseling endorsement/certification, or Current Arkansas Administrative licensure/certification, or other credentials in mental health or psychology..

According to the American School Counselor Association, school counselors provide academic support, educate students about self-awareness and self-esteem, teach problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, provide individual and small group counseling services and make referrals to outside services. They meet with parents or consult with external parties, such as child protective services or other social services agencies. However, the responsibilities of school counselors can vary from day to day. They might need to rearrange their schedules to meet the changing needs of students and teachers, especially if they need to intervene in crisis situations.

Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams,

Experience working with agencies who provide therapeutic interventions with children and families.

Experience working with school personnel and/or in school settings.

Computer experience and basic computer fluency.

Stong oral written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Experience working with diverse populations.

Presentation Skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the district in idenfifying gaps in mental health services.
  • Provide direct and indirect sercvices to students experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral problems that interfere with their performance in school.
  • Demonstrate clear and professional boundaries while collaborationg with the school guidance counselor, administration and school saff to provide appropriate mental health services that enhance the student's school experience.
  • Create and maintain accurate and complete treatment documentation as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations.
  • Report to proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.
  • In conjunction with the school crisis prevention team, provide crisis intervention to students as necessary.
  • Montitor and support the communication and utilization of services for students with mental health challenges or students in mental health crises.
  • Gather necessary data to ensure accurate outcome-based program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the district to support all district staff.
  • Adhere to all policies of the district.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 Day contract per Licensed Mental Health Professioanl salary schedule.

Education: Master's Level Degree in the study of: counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education or another helping profession that qualifies the individual for state licensure in Counseling of Social Work required.

Certifications & Licenses: Must have current licensure of certification as appropriate for the position, including without limitation: Licensed Professioanl Counselor (LPC); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Other Requrements:

1. Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.

2. Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students and other staff members.

3. Maintain appropriate professional development training to maintain board license in good standing.
