It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital. Job Summary The Patient Service Coordinator is responsible for providing outstanding and professional customer service to ensure operational efficiency and promote a positive patient experience. · Schedules new patient appointments, and informs patients of essential preparation requirements prior to visit (referrals etc.). · Ensures that office appointment schedule is coordinated with physician activities through the clinical nurse manager. · Schedules follow-up appointments and associated testing. Documents these appointments and completes the necessary requisition forms and pre-cert exams, which may include prior authorizations and coordination with scheduling and following up on appointments. · Greets and registers arriving patients, completes registration forms and verifies insurance. · Answers incoming calls, evaluates priority, and directs calls according to the urgency and subject matter. · Defines and resolves patient/physician issues/problems, bringing concerns to Practice Manager – Wound Care as necessary. · Provides back-up support to other front desk staff and performs other related duties in support of efficient operations. · Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Verbal and written proficiency in English required High school diploma or equivalent required 2 years of relevant experience required Proficiency in a second language preferred Associates' or Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or business field preferred 2 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced medical office and proficiency in billing practices preferred Ability to adhere to HIPAA, OSHA and CSG policies at all times. Ability to provide excellent and efficient customer service. Positive, customer-focused approach, with commitment to providing excellent patient care. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills - ability to communicate in other languages highly desirable. Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple competing tasks and demands. Strong computer skills - solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and IDX software. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance requirements. · Ability to travel independently to satellite offices with or without advanced notice. We take great care of careers.
