This position ensures complete, accurate, and timely accounting and financial reporting for accounting transactions to fulfill external reporting requirements in compliance with US GAAP and internal reporting and analysis needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 plus years of experience in the insurance industry.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
  • CPA or CPA eligible required.
Primary Job Functions:
  • Responsible for ensuring accounting transactions are properly accounted for, and consolidations and related eliminations are accurate.
  • Responsible for analysis and implementation of changes in GAAP guidance.
  • Responsible for leading the timely preparation, support, and delivery of GAAP financial statements and related disclosures, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.
  • Responsible for ensuring account reconciliations are completed accurately and timely.
  • Responsible for executing internal controls over financial reporting and fulfilling internal and external audit requests.
  • Responsible for meeting internal and external client needs as they relate to financial data and analysis requests and inquiries on reported amounts.

Periodic Job Functions:
  • Assist with system conversions and set-ups of new business to ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting to serve external and internal client needs.
  • Identify opportunities and implement procedures to drive efficiencies in accounting and add value to internal and external clients and stakeholders.
Skills & Competencies Required:
  • Proven track record of leading a team to meeting objectives and improving over time.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting issues
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Advanced mathematical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and apply new ideas to accomplishing objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High degree of tact and good judgment, especially with auditors and external parties.
  • Manage and oversee accounting staff.
  • Ability to self-start, and meet deadlines and goals in a limited time frame.
  • Ability to effectively deal with other company departments and external parties.
  • Ability to work independently, requires minimal supervision, and makes effective decisions to complete work assignments.
  • Ability to work well with associates in other areas on required work assignments.
